Changing to winter tires

Slippery When Wet

Brrrrrrr. . . brrrrrr. . . brrrrr. I went outside to help with clearing the walk of all of the snow, 3 hours later we changed the tires on the Olds. I don’t think that we would make a great pit crew. We even had an impact wrench but around half of the bolts would come off without about 4 feet of leverage.

I am enjoying the snow but it meant that Su and I didn’t get to go see the Bengal tiger at the zoo today. That may just have to wait until spring.

Power nap was needed

Holiday needed

Originally uploaded by Zamm.

I don’t know why but I haven’t been able to sleep when I tried the last few days and I have been sleeping in as late as 11am. This morning I tried rearranging the schedule by waking up at 9am. I don’t want to flip back too much. Well, about mid-afternoon I realized that there was nothing left for me to give and with seeing some friends this evening, I knew that I needed a nap.

Helpful tip: If you sleep less that a half-hour in the afternoon, you do not enter deep sleep. If you sleep more, you enter night-time sleep. That is what makes you groggy when you wake up and affects your ability to sleep in the evening.

Sorry to all of you who are regular readers who have been neglected for the last little while. If you really get ticked, just write me an email to set me in my place again.

It is a strange time to stop since I have finally realized so many of my dreams and Susana and I are experiencing so much that I would love to share. I guess that I haven’t found my rutine yet and blogging is a discipline of sorts.

I have come back and found myself shocked by how rich our country is. We are such incredibly wealthy people who are driven by free market and all of that jazz. The truly disturbing thing is that I find that I’m really comfortable jumping right back into the swing of things. :)

Most of our shopping has been stuff that Susana has needed since she is now facing an extra 3 seasons (I was never really convinced that 28 degrees with or without rain constitutes 2 seasons). That has been fun. The rest of our shopping has been thrift and sales shopping which I can truly say that I find fun. I love the XS Cargo, Value Village and outlet store experience. Coming from a country where sales are ok at best, this has been really fun. We were able to get Sorels for Su in Calgary for $15 at the Aldo outlet store. Seriously. . . and they are actually kind of cute.

I think that it will be difficult coming back and figuring out what kind of life we will live here but I think that we are both enjoying the process. Time will tell us more as we go and I know that God will continue to speak into things.

Road Tripping

Road Tripping

This weekend we took a road trip out to Calgary and Edmonton to visit the family. Apologies to all those we missed out there but we were running down to the minute in terms of schedule so it was necessary to stay on the down low this time around. By the looks of things we would really like to do that again one of these weekends.

We had an awesome trip. I love showing Susana all of the things that are old to me because they become new again through her eyes. It is great driving through Saskatoon and having Susana wanting to stop everywhere to take pictures. I haven´t had that kind of excitement about my city ever but it really is a beautiful place.

We did a lot of shopping for Susana´s winter wear. The cold is the big factor for us right now and we are attacking it with some gusto.
