What I'm excited about
I mentioned earlier that I had been reading through the DeVinci Code and had done a little side reading on the subject. Aldo and I were discussing the release of the movie this week and he was telling me the fear that he had for the shaking of people's faith in El Salvador. I responded that there will be people who have there faith shaken but it is also a huge opportunity to talk about faith with a group of people who will be very interested in the topic.
In response to this, I hope to put together a lecture on The DeVinci Code and Aldo will put together the venues and the advertising. I'm stoked about the possibilities. We will need to seriously think through the follow up of these events but I'm willing to take on the challenge. I believe this movie could be a great opportunity for the church to answer for herself and set an example of rolling with the punches. I agree the idea of the Son of God being married is blashemy but at least people will be talking and thinking about Jesus. If we take the time to understand the history and the faulty premise of this movie/book, we can do a lot to speak into the lives of people who are looking for the truth.
