Flirting with reality. . .

I just thought that would be a cute title for Valentine's Day.

It looks like my plans are all set, Leighton and I are going to hang tonight and then I'm covering a shift for Wade so that he can spend quantity time with Cystal. Ah, the friend I am.

I was reflecting on the Valentine's Day thing and I have heard many people bemoaning Valentine's Day. I've only ever been with a girlfriend on one Valentine's day in my life. I have had three total Valentine's that I have had a girlfriend for and those other two Valentine's days were spent thousands of miles apart. I still think that the day is a wonderful day.

Valentine's is a day to remember love for those who have it and those who don't, should just look forward to it rather than hurt over the lack of eros now. The reality is that I would rather be alone than be with someone that I not going to end up with. Although my views on dating are probably more liberal than they once were, I still think that romantic expression should be saved for those who will remain. I think we are far too fearful of the opposite sex but maybe not fearful enough of misused sexuality.

I dig Valentine's Day and I'm glad I'm single right at the moment. It's cool. I even dig knowing that so many of my friends that are in loving committed relationships are enjoying the day. CARPE Date (Seize the date)!
